Welcome

The Network is a statewide organization of people and agencies committed to the belief that every Californian with a developmental disability can live in his or her own home if provided the supports and services needed to be safe and successful. Read about how the network came together in "About Us." We hope you will find this web site informative and helpful. We welcome your comments and ideas on how the web site can further meet your needs and provide you with information about Supported Living Services and the Network

CSLN Regional Membership Forums

CSLN is bringing a forum to your area!
CSLN is sponsoring four regional forums for CSLN members throughout California. The forums will provide the opportunity for direct support providers and team leaders to come together in an effort to share, collaborate, learn, listen, create, question and celebrate.

Join us at a forum and you will…

  • Meet other professionals in your community that “do what you do”
  • Become up to date regarding current legislative and budgetary issues
  • Create an individualized advocacy plan so that you can do your part to preserve services in California
  • Be reminded of the Five Principles and how they effect the day to day provision of support
  • Share resources
  • Learn some new best practice strategies for providing support

And all this for the cost of lunch!
(Really—the cost of lunch is $10 and that is the total cost to attend)

July 10 - Southern California
July 17 - Sacramento and Far Northern
July 24 - Central Valley
July 31 - Bay Area

The network invites you to join our efforts to protect the rights afforded California’s citizens with developmental disabilities under the Lanterman Act. All services to people effected by this law are in jeopardy as a result of the current state budget crises, but supported living services are especially vulnerable. Individuals, their family members, small “mom and pop” agencies, and larger providers need to stand together . . . to continue to insist on a person’s right to choose where he/she will live, what support will look like, and who will provide it. Together our voices will be heard and we can make a difference.

The links below are PDF documents. Just download to your computer, fill out the application and invoice, include your membership dues and mail in. The "Send" instructions are listed on the form.

SAMPLE LETTERS
(Zipped Word docs, 20 KB)

These are boilerplate letters to your Senate or Assembly member about the current financial crisis. They require only minor edits (or as much as you want) to be ready to send. Two are designed for agency use (one Senate and one Assembly), and two are from a consumer perspective (one Senate and one Assembly).

Grassroots Toolkit
(PDF, 3.7 MB)

Adapted from the CRA Grassroots Manual by CSLN, this is your grassroots guide to government action. Use this tool when you have something to say to an elected official. Remember, you make a difference only if you participate in the process!

A Consumer Guide to the Lanterman Act

This booklet is for adults with developmental disabilities was written with the help of consumers but it is the quickest and easiest way to learn about the Lanterman Act. Use it with your families and employees!
